All are invited to the 2024 Urbanna Military Banner Dedication on Friday, June 21, at 6 p.m. at the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department (the “Urbanna firehouse”) at 335 Virginia St. The guest speaker will be Robert L. Fitch Jr., a retired citizen-soldier who completed 30 years of U.S. Army active, reserve and Virginia National Guard service to the state and nation. Fitch retired in June 2022 with the rank of colonel with numerous awards. Fitch’s parents live in Urbanna, while he and his wife Heather live in Charlotte.
A program will be offered to honor local veterans and will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Urbanna Baptist Church with a patriotic golf cart procession and all veterans are welcome to ride or participate. The 2023 banners, which have been displayed on light poles in Urbanna, will be returned to the sponsors. The 2024 banners will be displayed on Virginia and Cross streets.
