The Middlesex County Community Park (MCCP), known to most as the Middlesex County Sports Complex (MCSC), in Locust Hill, is in full swing this summer as new field lights have been installed on field three and more than 250 children are playing baseball and softball at the complex in the Middlesex Little League (MLL) program.

“The MCSC is one of the most used youth and recreational facilities in the county,” said Jackie Duke Taylor, treasurer and fundraising chairman on the Middlesex County Community Park Committee (MCCPC). “It is considered to be one of the finest facilities of its kind in the region.”

The MLL uses the complex for all its practices and home games. In most years there are district and state tournament little league games played on the fields. “This is when many positive comments from visitors are made concerning the quality of the complex,” said Taylor.

Fundraising

An ongoing fundraiser is the “Pathway to Success” brick paver project. “We solicit your participation for use in honoring loved ones, memorials, for thanks, or just contributing in someone’s name,” said Taylor.

“When you visit the complex you will notice the “Pathway” as you enter. Also, take a look at the recognition board and see if you would like to see your name or company listed there. Recent donations are from the Barrick Family by Kevin Barrick; in memory of Mama and Papa (Hilda and Sonny) by Brittany Glenn and Justin Taylor; and in memory of Wallace Davis by Matthew Fleet and family.

The MCCPC’s biggest fundraiser is the annual golf tournament. “This year we are set to tee off on Oct. 11 at noon at the Piankatank River Golf Course in Hartfield,” Taylor noted. “Please mark your calendar!”
