Tuesday, June 18, at 7 p.m. is the deadline to file as a local candidate for one of three seats up for grabs on the Urbanna Town Council or to run in a special election to choose a Hartfield District representative to the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.
As of June 11, there are three candidates for three town council seats. Marjorie F. Austin, Alana V. Courtney and Sandra W. Sturgill are each seeking four-year terms on council, announced Middlesex County Director of Elections and General Registrar Melissa D. Welch. The winners in the town council election will serve from Jan. 1, 2025 through Dec. 31, 2029.
The town council has staggered terms. In November 2026, the three council seats not contested in the 2024 election, and the mayor’s position will be on the ballot for four-year terms…
