The Middlesex Lady Charger softball team won its way into the state tournament by shutting out Essex 7-0 on Tuesday, May 28, in the semifinals of the Class 1 Region A Tournament.
The third seed Lady Chargers will host fifth seed Rappahannock Thursday, May 30 for the regional championship. Game time is expected to be either 6 or 7 p.m.
Rappahannock won at top seed Chincoteague 1-0 on Tuesday.
Both Middlesex (15-4-1) and Rappahannock (13-6-1) will advance to the state tournament, which begins on Tuesday, June 4.
