Middlesex County Director of Elections and General Registrar Melissa D. Welch announced this week that two local candidates have filed for seats, one for the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (MCBS) and the other on Urbanna Town Council (UTC) for the Nov. 5 election.
William A. (Bill) Harris has filed to run in the special election for the Hartfield District seat on the MCBS and Marjorie Austin has filed to run for a seat on UTC.
Harris currently occupies the Hartfield seat as an appointed representative by MCBS. He took the place of former Hartfield supervisor John Koontz, who resigned last year and moved out of the Hartfield District. Harris was sworn in on December 2023.
Austin is a two-term member of UTC.
The deadline to file for the November election is June 18 at 7 p.m. Candidate packets are available at the Elections Office at 105 Bowden St. in Saluda. Call 804-758-4420 or email govote119@co.middlesex.va.us for information.
