Holly Point Market this Saturday at Deltaville Maritime Museum

Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association (TOGA) will be at this Saturday’s Holly Point Market, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., providing information on raising your own oysters. Master oyster gardeners will be available to talk about and demonstrate various oyster cages, equipment, selecting a site, obtaining a permit, water quality, maintenance, health and safety, ecology and harvesting. Deltaville Maritime Museum and Holly Point Nature Park will celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with a Saturday morning of shopping, creek cruises and music at the second Holly Point Market of the season on May 25, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

  • Discovery Cruises and boat tours at 10 a.m.
  • “Groovin’ in the Park” 4-8 p.m.

The market vendors crank up at 9 a.m. and DMM opens an hour early with donation only admission 9 a.m.-1 p.m. for the market. DMM features its new maritime and history exhibits. Check ’em out!

The “Bistrobunchers” will serve breakfast sandwiches and coffee at the tea house and hot dogs starting around 10 a.m. There will be Bloody Marys and screwdrivers at the DMM Tiki Bar.

Come back to the park around 4 p,m, as the gates open for a wonderful evening of blues/rock music as super-guitarist and number one Billboard blues artist Bobby Messano headlines the Saturday, May 25 Memorial weekend “Groovin’ in the Park” concert at the Deltaville Maritime Museum, 6-8 p.m. Gates open at 4 p.m.

Area favorite, keyboard man Ray Pittman leads off for Bobby at 5 p.m. With strong ties to the area, Ray plays a crowd pleasing mix of rhythm and blues, Motown and beach music.

Tickets for this Groovin’ are $10 advance until 4 p.m. Saturday and $15 at the door.

Don’t miss our restocked gift shop in the museum. There’s lots of neat stuff for children. Yes, we have copies of the new pictorial history book.
