Dozens of Little Leaguers from across Middlesex County and the surrounding area participated in the eighth annual Little League Day at Deltaville Ballpark over Mother’s Day weekend.

Eight Middlesex baseball and softball teams hosted a counterpart from a neighboring county in a series of games at the iconic, 77-year-old ballpark, the oldest all-wooden ballpark in Virginia.

Divisions with children from ages 8 to 14 participated, and besides a mist of rain on Friday, May 10, the event could not have gone better, organizers said.

Fans from Middlesex, Essex, Northumberland, and Mathews packed the grandstands all day. The concession sales from the weekend raised more than $1,000 each day for both Middlesex Little League and Deltaville Ballpark.
