AIM festival features local, emerging artists

Arts in the Middle’s spring fine arts festival is offered annually at Hewick Plantation on the outskirts of Urbanna. The show is open Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, June 2, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

As Arts in the Middle’s spring festival celebrates its 10th year, its local artist tent returns with a record number of exhibitors, and the show welcomes a new tent showcasing emerging talent.

The tent, found next to the show entrance, is a shared exhibit space that celebrates work by fine artists from the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck. Fourteen artists will join the tent this year, working in over a half dozen forms of media. The artists include Beth Bader (ceramics), Jody Ball (oil / pastels), Carol Chandler (mixed media), Heidi Christensen (mixed media), Martha Crittenden (acrylic), John Everton (mixed media), Gail Falk (ceramics), Meghan George (acrylic), Balasz Gyenge (wood), Michael Kunzinger (photography), Rhonda Lawrence (jewelry), Kathie Lochhead (watercolor), Diane Lucas (acrylic), and Anna Pomaska (mixed media).
