The Middlesex High School varsity softball team pushed its season record to 12-4-1 recently, picking up wins against Charles City and Mathews, a loss to King William, and a tie against Rappahannock.
The Lady Chargers wrapped up their regular season this week at King and Queen Central on Tuesday, May 14, and at Nandua on Wednesday, May 15.
Middlesex 23, Charles City 3
Against Charles City the Lady Chargers racked up 12 hits in the five-inning contest and never looked back after scoring 10 runs in the second inning on April 30.
King William 7, Middlesex 0
The Lady Chargers offense couldn’t get on track against the hard throwing lefty from King William and a couple costly errors led to two crooked number innings for the Lady Cavaliers.
Middlesex 2, Rappahannock 2
The Lady Chargers and Lady Raiders squared off in a classic duel in Saluda on May 7. Neither team would get a runner in scoring position until the bottom of the third. Lady Charger Libby Oliver tripled to the left field gap, but would be left stranded and after three innings the score was 0-0.
