Davila Manueal Redmond,41, suddenly transition from this earthly life on May 1, 2024, at his home in Topping, Virginia. He was the son of Bernard Solomon Redmond, Sr. and Deborah A. Pratt of Jamaica, Virginia. His passage impacted the hearts and lives of many who loved him. His warm smile, gentle hug and cheerful, loving nature will continue to remain in the hearts of those who had the favor to know him. He was always willing to help others without expecting anything in return.
At an early age, Davila accepted Christ and joined the Immanuel Baptist Church, in Saluda, Virginia. He received his formal education in the Middlesex County Public School System. During his time in high school, Davila participated on various sport teams. Davila was a member of the 1999 Winning and State Record setting 4 x 400 or “Mile Relay” team for Middlesex High School alongside his brother, Bernard. Davila graduated from Middlesex High School in 2000.
Davila boldly followed in the path of his mother, Deborah and Aunt Clementine Macon Boyd and began to shuck oysters competitively. He, in time, was able to challenge his mother in 2020 by securing the Urbanna Oyster Festival Championship Title. Davila also warmed the hearts of many within his “Oyster Shucking Family” throughout the country.
On any given Sunday during the football season, you would find Davila coordinating his Fantasy Football teams ensuring that everyone knew who the best birds were and according to him, it was the Baltimore Ravens not the Philadelphia Eagles or Atlanta Falcons.
Davila was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Solomon Redmond, Sr., and grandparents: Augustus and Edith Redmond; Arthur and Lillian Macon.
To cherish his memories Davila leaves behind his devoted wife, Tanesha Maiden Redmond; children, Salome Redmond, Erik Pearson (Tanya), Tamya Mills, Antonio Mills and Nia Taylor Pearson; mother, Deborah Ann Pratt; siblings, Jacqueline Pratt, Regina Hill (Greg) and brother, Bernard Redmond, Jr. (Tom); mother-in-law, Genita Maiden-Shearin; sister-in-law, Terreka Maiden; nieces, Sydni Scott and Ella Higgins-Redmond; nephew, Isaiah Hill; childhood friend, Harold Diggs, and a host of adoring aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held 2 pm, Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point, VA. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home before the service.
