Middlesex supervisors OK $36 million FY 24-25 budget

Still unclear how much money state will contribute, especially to schools

The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a $36 million budget on Thursday, April 25, for the 2024-2025 fiscal year (FY 24-25), which starts on July 1.

The FY 24-25 budget calls for the real estate rate to remain at $.61 per $100 of assessed value and personal property to remain at $2.60 per $100 of assessed value.

The budget calls for 3% cost of living adjustment increases for all school and county employees, funds for the hiring of two new deputies and a dispatcher for the sheriff’s office, funds to support the hiring of an assistant commonwealth’s attorney, and monies for the purchase of a new $136,462 diesel powered school bus.

Most of the discussion on Thursday dealt with concerns over state K-12 educational funds in the proposed House, Senate and governor’s budgets that have not yet been approved and an additional $3,000 to each of the 21 county deputies above the 3% cost of living increase.
