Middlesex High School’s girls tennis team (1-5) notched its first win of the season Monday, defeating West Point 5-4 in away action.
The squad’s no. 1 singles player, Meeha Ferris, won 6-2, 6-3. Other Charger girl singles winners included no. 2 singles player, Hailey Bruce, 6-3, 6-3; no. 3 singles player, Anna Crown, 7-6, 6-0; and no. 4 singles player, Rori Stuart, 6-0, 6-0.
MHS no. 5 singles player Mia Slider lost, 2-6, 0-6; as did no. 6 singles player, Kamryn Friday, 1-6, 1-6.
In doubles action, no. 2 doubles duo Crown-Stuart won due to a West Point injury forfeit. MHS no. 1 doubles duo Ferris-Bruce lost, 4-8; as did no. 3 doubles duo Slider-Friday, 2-8.
MHS Coach Matthew Short’s crew’s next match is on the road versus Mathews at 4 p.m. Monday, May 6.
