Church Briefs: April 11, 2024

All campers and community members are invited to attend the Sunday, April 14, worship service at Bethpage Camp-Resort near Urbanna. The gatherings will take place at the campground’s amphitheater at 9 a.m. each Sunday through summer. In case of bad weather, they will meet in the Bethpage Rally Center. Please dress casually.

Urbanna Baptist Church is hosting the Bethpage Campground worship service for the 43rd year this season. Wade Inge, the senior minister of Beulah Wesleyan Church in King and Queen County, will speak this Sunday, April 14. Jubal, a Middlesex County-based worship band, will provide the music.

Urbanna Baptist Church is sponsoring a “Grieving for the loss of a Spouse” outreach program starting this month.

There is a $7 fee for registration which includes a participant’s book. There are scholarships available for registration fees.

Also, the church is sponsoring a grief support program, which will be offered in the fellowship hall of Urbanna Baptist Church starting Tuesday, April 16, and ending Tuesday, July 9. The event will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. weekly at the church.

There is a $20 registration fee. There are scholarships available for registration fees as well. The program runs 13 weeks.

New Hope Fellowship Church in Hartfield will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Saturday, April 20, from 7 a.m.-noon. Choose from a wide variety of mouth-watering options. The cost is $20 per person.


On Sunday, April 21, Lower United Methodist Church (LUMC) invites everyone to join them for their Casual Sunday and Breakfast With Friends event in the LUMC Fellowship Hall. They will gather at 9:30 a.m. and serve free breakfasts at 9:45 a.m., then remain in the hall for their 10:30 a.m. worship service. They are looking forward to hymn sings and special music during this time of faith and fellowship.

A spokesman for the event said, “Come and bring a friend!”

On Tuesday, the United Women in Faith will meet in the LUMC Fellowship Hall at 10 a.m.
All are welcome each Wednesday for a time of group prayer beginning at 5 p.m.

Zion Branch Baptist Church, Saluda, will have services in the following order on the first and third Sundays of the month at Lebanon Baptist Church, Saluda, and on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at Antioch Baptist Church, Saluda, until further notice.

Services at Lebanon will begin at 1 p.m. Services at Antioch will be Sunday school at 11 a.m. and worship service at noon.

The Kingsmen Quartet is set to perform at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Harmony Village. The group is very popular and tours the East Coast.

They have a ministry and want to preserve gospel music in the U.S. They sing in Pigeon Forge and Dollywood, and at local gospel festivals in Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama.

They had the number one song on gospel charts, “Unstoppable God.”

The Pastor’s Aide Committee of Make-A-Way and Deliverance Full Gospel Baptist Church located at 100 Flats Road in Urbanna will be taking pre-orders for spaghetti dinners, side salad, dessert and drink for a donation of $10 continuing through April 22.

When you place your orders give them a time you plan on picking up your dinner so it can be hot and ready. Dinners can be picked up on Saturday, April 27, between the hours of 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Zion Hill Baptist Church, 10256 Indian Road, Gloucester, will have in-person worship service on Sunday, April 14, at 11 a.m. Pastor Eugene Comithier II will preach and the Youth Choir will sing.

In-person Sunday school will be offered at 9:45 a.m.
