Middlesex track athletes qualify for state meet

At the Charles City High School Invitational Track Meet on Friday, March 29, the Middlesex High School Charger boys team had three participants to meet the 1A state standards to qualify for the state meet in May.

JaQuan Griffin won the triple jump with a 42’ 8.5” leap and qualified for the 1A state standards. The jump would have qualified J. Griffin for the 3A state meet. The 3A standard was 42’ 6.25”.

Davonte Griffin finished second in high jump (5’ 10”) and Jamar Hammond finished third reaching the same height. Hammond and D. Griffin met the 1A state standard of 5’ 9”. The jumpers would have qualified for 2A standards that is set at 5’ 10”. Hammond was third in the event because he had more misses at lower heights than D. Griffin.
