Charger squad remains undefeated; has allowed foes just one goal
Middlesex High School’s (MHS) boys soccer team was 4-0 on the season as of early last week. The team had amassed a staggering 37 goals and had up to that point only yielded one goal the entire season. The Chargers Marek Hanscom is having a year to remember with 13 goals and 12 assists on the season, followed closely by Wyatt St. Louis who had nine goals and nine assists on the season.
“We have three major goals on the season,” MHS Head Boys Soccer Coach Conley Clark Laster IV said. “The first is to learn to communicate with each other in a positive, meaningful way. The second is to have 10 players score multiple goals on the season — currently we have seven. The third is to play in the regional championship.”
Coach Laster added, “We have the talent, but we need to make sure we stay humble and play one game at a time.”
On March 18, the team continued its impressive win streak, defeating King William 9-1. That game was followed by playing Carver Academy on March 20 with a final score of 10-0. On Monday, March 25, the team defeated King and Queen Central 9-0.
The squad returns to play on the friendly confines of Saluda’s Bristow-Boxley Field on Monday, April 8. The Chargers are squaring off against Lancaster High School’s Red Devils. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
