Middlesex baseball squad blanked in first two games

The Middlesex High School (MHS) varsity baseball team opened its 2023-2024 regular season with two losses, one to Northumberland, 9-0, on Tuesday, March 12, and to Lancaster, 4-0, on Friday in two non-district games.

Against Lancaster, Chris Withers pitched five innings for the Chargers, facing 22 batters, giving up three runs on five hits. Henry Fleet came on in relief giving up one hit, one run, facing 10 batters.

On offense, MHS was held to four hits. The Chargers were paced by Marshall Motley, who had two hits. Hudson McMinn and Nolan Rutkowski both connected for a single apiece. Withers and Shane Glenn both reached first base on walks.

The stats for the Northumberland game were unavailable.
