In his remarks at the reception in his honor on March 3, Zoar Baptist Church Pastor John Snow said, “I thought maybe four or five years of service here and the Lord would move us on to something else.” But now, 15 years later, he concludes, “It has been a wonderful experience and we have been blessed. For me personally, it’s a privilege to be the pastor at Zoar.”
Only two years into his ministry here, a tornado descended upon Deltaville destroying the church sanctuary in April 2011. Under his leadership, the church continued to worship and serve the community as the sanctuary was rebuilt and other damaged parts of the church were repaired.
During the pandemic in 2020, Pastor Snow led the church to conduct worship services at the beach property where worshipers could sit outdoors and maintain safe distances or sit in their cars and tune in to the service on the radio. Congregants were even joined by their brothers and sisters from Clarksbury Church…
