Christchurch baseball team opens season Wednesday

The Christchurch School baseball season kicks off next week. The Seahorses will open the spring 2024 season during their spring break training.

Scheduled games include:

  • 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 — CCS visits Lancaster.
  • 4 p.m. Friday, March 15 — CCS hosts Virginia Episcopal School of Lynchburg.
  • 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16 —  CCS hosts Virginia Episcopal School of Lynchburg.

Local talents to watch include:

  • Cameron Byers, nephew of Floyd Crouch, Christchurch.
  • Dallas Davis, son of Nikki and Jimmy Davis, Topping.
  • Trey Fitchett, son of Joey and Nina Fitchett, Saluda.
  • Waverly Rennolds, son of Ben Rennolds, Urbanna.
  • Kemp Davis, son of JD and Tracy Davis, Tappahannock.
  • Latane Barnette, son of Mark Barnette and April Pinkard, Tappahannock.
  • Mark Lewis, son of Mark and Bonita Lewis, Dunnsville.
  • Finley Caisse, son of Joe and Sarah Caisse, Hartfield.
  • Mac Bargatze, son of Hampton and Elizabeth Bargatze, Dunnsville.
  • Isaiah Booker, son of Carl Kelly and Aura Booker, Gloucester.
  • Brayden Payne, son of Bradley Payne and Pamela Sickal, Water View.

The team is coached by local baseball legend Joey Fitchett. Fitchett is assisted by Aaron Mathews and Floyd Crouch.

All games are free and open to the public. “Come on out to CCS’s Davies Field and enjoy some ball!” a CCS spokesman said.
