At a Middlesex County Board of Supervisors budget work session on Feb. 2, supervisors presented a check to the Middlesex Sports Complex Committee (MSCC) for $75,000 to go towards the first phase of the new sports complex lighting project.

The MSCC is in the process of installing new LED lights on baseball field number three. Through the supervisors capital improvement project line item, the LED lights will reduce the electrical costs of the facility and provide an overall softer lighting with less glare. Supervisors have budgeted $75,000 per field to complete the project, which will amount to a total of $225,000 in county contributions, said County Administrator Matt Walker.

The $75,000 per field does not, however, cover the entire cost of lighting a field and the complex committee is seeking donations from the public to help cover overall costs.

Sports complex representatives Johnny Fleet and Jackie Taylor accepted the check and thanked the board for its continued support of the Locust Hill sports complex.
