Four volunteer firefighters with the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department (LMVFD) were recognized for their years of community service and dedication that tallies 225 years — and counting. Bobby Faulkner and Henry Lackey each have been LMVFD members for 50 years and Garland Harrow has been a member for 60 years. These three men are still involved. Carl Vaughan, who was a member for 65 years, is not active.
During a Jan. 27 recognition ceremony, Paul Murray, assistant chief of LMVFD, told the audience at the Deltaville firehouse, “Anyone new to the organization looking to be a leader in service to the community should look no further than these gentlemen for examples to emulate.”
Murray added, “They have countless hours of emergency responses, training and fundraising.”
Each of the senior members received a plaque with a small fire axe and an inscription that states, “Your time and effort will always be remembered.”
