Toys for Tots Middlesex County Coordinator Steve Larson this month expressed thanks to the citizens and businesses of Middlesex for their overwhelming support of the Toys for Tots campaign this past Christmas season. “We usually collect around 1,000 toys and with the economy being in bad shape, we expected this year to be low, but thanks to everyone’s cheerful giving we set a record of 1,743 toys!” Larson said.
The Topping resident also noted that this year the collection went particularly smoothly. “Our collection started in early October and ended on Dec. 17,” Larson said. “Our Marine Corps League Detachment 1317 works together with our own Department of Social Services; they know of those in need and where the toys need to go. We’re looking forward to next year’s campaign!”
