Are you an oyster enthusiast or have you thought about becoming an oyster gardener? Then come to the Tidewater Oyster Gardeners Association’s (TOGA) 2024 annual meeting. This informative event is set for 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, in Watermen’s Hall at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) in Gloucester.
According to the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, the 2022-2023 Virginia oyster harvest was the most productive in more than two decades. The TOGA program will feature a keynote by Dr. Roger Mann, professor at VIMS on Virginia’s Oyster Productivity over the last 25 years and he will tell us what is happening with oysters in the Chesapeake Bay.
