Walter “Mack” Major, 66, of Wake, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024.
Mack was a devoted father, brother, grandfather and husband, for 49 years, to Janice Major.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Pearl Major; mother and father-in-law, Mary Lucille and Girlard Ferguson.
Mack was a welder by trade and a talented craftsman. His attention to detail and creative nature was admired by many. When Mack wasn’t behind the welding shield, you could find him in the solitude of the woods enjoying the cry of his hounds or surrounded by his friends and family.
He leaves behind his wife, Janice; two sons, Shawn (Ashley), David (Liz); brother, Chris (Sheila) and their children, Ashland and Lee; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and expecting two more in 2024; a host of nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda. Casual dress is recommended.
