Christchurch Head of School Billy Coyle and Co-curriculars Director John Dehm recently announced all-state honorees for the fall season.
The Seahorses won the Virginia Independent School Football League (VISFL) Division I State Championship. Christchurch School Head Football Coach Joel Jorgensen was named VISFL Division I Coach of the Year, reported CCS Communications Assistant Jennifer Homer.
Felix Koerner, the son of David and Lou Koerner of Venice, Fla., was named VISFL Division I Player of the Year. He also was named to the VISFL All-State First Team as quarterback and athlete.
Other Christchurch first team honorees include:
- Defensive backs — Liam Vollans, the son of Kelly Guyatt of Peterborough, Canada, and Mark Lewis, the son of Mark and Bonita Lewis of Dunnsville.
- Linebacker — Jack Wack, the son of John and Penny Wack of Fredericksburg.
- Offensive lineman — Keegan Slider, the son of Ben and Michelle Slider of Farnham.
Halfback, Peter Bolanis, the son of Michael Bolanis of Pittsburgh, Pa., and James and Pamela Wise of Washington, D.C., was named to the second team.
Soccer
Two Christchurch athletes were named to the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II All-State Soccer First Team.
Honorees include:
- Francesco Mungari, the son of Ileana Martino and Gaetano Mungari of Rome, Italy.
- Blake Berry, the son of Jonathan and Lauren Berry of St. Stephens Church.
