Following public hearings, the Urbanna Planning Commission on Dec. 12 voted to recommend approval of a Special Use Permit (SUP) to construct and operate a restaurant with outdoor tables and seating on property commonly known as the Urbanna Town Green, which is the vacant lot between the Urbanna Post Office and the Urbanna ABC store at 241 Virginia St.
The commission also recommended approval of a SUP to keep what is described as “a miniature pony” at a Kent Street residence.
Both recommendations will be sent to the town council, which is the only body that can grant the SUPs. Council’s next meeting is set for 6 p.m. Jan. 11, 2024.
Restaurant
The restaurant application was submitted by Jay Wolfson of White Stone, who owns “Small Town Burger,” an outdoor restaurant in Kilmarnock, who states he would like to duplicate his Kilmarnock restaurant in Urbanna.
“mini pony”
Marnie Harte submitted an application to keep “Teddy,” described as “a miniature pony” on her residence’s 1.2 acres.
Public hearings have not been set for either the restaurant or mini pony applications.
