Dianne Hundley Hirsch, 80, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023 in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Dianne was born Oct. 15, 1943 in Newport News and grew up in Deltaville.
She was the daughter of the late Denvie Blanton Hundley and Mabel Daniel Hundley. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Arthur Hirsch Jr.; her first husband, Gerald Lee Duncan; a grandson, Dustin Jacob “Dusty” Whitehurst; and a son in law, Wamer Lewis Mayes Jr.
Dianne was a graduate of Middlesex High School in Saluda and was a member of Harvest Christian Fellowship Church and grew up in Zoar Baptist Church in Deltaville.
Dianne had retired as the personal secretary for Sol W. Rawls Jr. after over 50 years of service and was retired executive assistant for S.W. Rawls, Inc. after more than 50 years of service.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Sherry Duncan Mayes and Becky Duncan Whitehurst; three grandchildren, Katie Joyner (Makinzie), Taylor Joyner, Capt. William Lewis Mayes, USMC (Shelby); Harvey’s two daughters, Nancy H. Brown (Phillip) and Linda H. Drake (Neil); Harvey’s four grandchildren, Emily E. Brown, Grayson D. Hasty (Dillon), William M. Brown, Jr. and Emma C. Drake; and one great-grandchild, Collins J. Hasty.
The memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 in Wright Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Wright officiating. The burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6 in Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery, 17097 General Puller Highway, Deltaville. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Harvest Christian Fellowship Church, 27002 Smiths Ferry Road, Franklin, VA 23851 or the American Cancer Society.
