Do not be surprised if you see Santa or the Grinch Who Stole Christmas being pursued by your friends and neighbors bedecked in red and green at the Piankatank River Golf Course on Saturday, Dec. 9. The 9:30 a.m. annual Jingle Bell 5K race will host 200 athletes ready to run to raise funds for YMCA youth programs, and collect classroom supplies for teachers.

Sponsors help a lot

Children will run for free in a 9 a.m. pre-race, one-mile dash thanks to a generous donation from Kip and Patty Campbell. Carousel Physical Therapy, Church View Septic, Bay Freight Inc., and the Revere Family Foundation are other leading sponsors that ensure the Middlesex Family Y can serve children and families throughout the year.
