Urbanna’s IT company finds computer files once believed missing

Almost three years ago, then-Urbanna Town Administrator Holly Gailey resigned after about eight years in the position.

Soon after, some computer files could not be found that were related to Gailey’s hard drive and accusations were made, said Urbanna Mayor Bill Goldsmith during the Nov. 16, 2023 town council meeting.

“Holly’s character was maligned in that particular circumstance,” said Goldsmith.

This month, Franktronics, the town’s information technology company, found the missing files. “He found a hard drive that had been inadvertently disconnected in the server. And when he reconnected it, it turns out it was Holly’s hard drive. It’s been there the whole time,” said Goldsmith.

“I would like to make a formal apology in public to Miss Gailey on behalf of the town for the undue hardship that this has caused her, because the stuff was there. How it got unhooked I don’t know.”

Goldsmith went on to say, “It’s easy to jump to conclusions on all kinds of things. I think we owe it to ourselves to pay attention and keep a cool head and try to get the facts before you jump in any direction.”

Gailey was notified right away that the files had been found, said Goldsmith.

The Sentinel contacted Gailey who declined to comment.
