OKs spending $151,660
The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (MCBS) voted unanimously Wednesday, Nov. 8, to approve the appropriation of $151,660 to K&C Construction DBA Tennis Court Inc. to construct a combination basketball and pickleball court on the old Rappahannock Central Elementary (RCE) School property at Cooks Corner.
The board agreed not to take funds from the county’s “fund balance” to pay for the courts, but rather from a $320,000 appropriation that was already in the budget to put a roof on the old RCE Kidd building.
The RCE roof fix remains in the county’s capital improvement plan but the actual construction will not come about during this fiscal year. Therefore, funds are available now to transfer to another budget line item, said Middlesex County Assistant County Administrator AnnMarie Ricardi.
