Deadlines earlier for Sentinel’s Thanksgiving edition

As sunlight diminishes in the autumn, chlorophyll in leaves breaks down, revealing yellow and orange pigments in the leaves that were masked by the green chlorophyll, according to the Smithsonian Institution. Red leaves are caused by a chemical change when sugars trapped in the leaves make new pigments that were not present in the growing season. Dry weather results in more vibrant colors. Because area post offices will be closed on Thanksgiving day, next week’s Southside Sentinel will appear a day early — on Wednesday, Nov. 22, — and the deadline for display ads is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. The deadline for classified ads and news is noon on Monday, Nov. 20.

The Sentinel office will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 23 and 24, for the Thanksgiving holiday, so Sentinel employees can enjoy the holiday with their families.
