The following are the winners in the Urbanna Oyster Festival’s (UOF) Saturday, Nov. 4, Official Virginia State Oyster Shucking Competition at the Urbanna firehouse:
- Overall winner — Robert Minor, Gwynn’s Island, adjusted time of 3:16.
- Second — Deborah Pratt, Jamaica, adjusted time of 4:33.
In the men’s professional division, there were seven competitors. Professionals shuck 24 oysters. The winners were:
- First — Robert Minor, Gwynn’s Island, adjusted time of 3:41.
- Second — Ian Johnson, Norfolk, adjusted time of 3:50.
- Third — Sam Davis, Urbanna, adjusted time of 3:51.
In the women’s professional division, there were three competitors. The winners were:
- First — Deborah Pratt, Jamaica, adjusted time of 4:13.
- Second — Hannah Bush, Manassas, adjusted time of 4:34.
- Third — Jaime Southern-Kline, Norfolk, adjusted time of 4:39.
In the amateur division, there were 13 competitors. Amateurs shuck 12 oysters. The winners were:
- First — Kasay Smith, Deltaville, adjusted time of 2:34.
- Second — Bill Parrish, Virginia Beach, adjusted time of 2:37.
- Third — LaRenz Christmas, Urbanna, adjusted time of 2:56.
