Middlesex volleyball team to play in state tournament

The Middlesex High School (MHS) volleyball team lost in four sets to Rappahannock in the championship of the Region 1A tournament on Monday at MHS.

Rappahannock won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-15. Middlesex took the third set 25-23. The Raider girls claimed the Region 1A Tournament with a 25-17 margin in game four. Rappahannock is 24-0 in Region 1A competition.

Both teams advance to the State Tournament that begins on Saturday. This will be the Lady Chargers’ fifth trip to the State Tournament in seven years.

The Lady Chargers will face Region 1B champs Altavista Lady Colonels at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Altavista Combined School in Campbell County near Lynchburg.

The Lady Chargers were undefeated in Tidewater District play and were district champs. This season they are 20-3 overall. Their only losses were to Rappahannock.
