A speeding motorcyclist lost control and died after striking a sign and tree at the intersection of Burrells Marina Road and Old Virginia Street (Route 602) Saturday evening. The motorcyclist, Ulysses Wise Jr., 46, of the 200 block of Wise Lane in Mattaponi, was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the posted stop sign and travelled into the intersection, according to a news release by Sgt. Michelle Anaya of the Virginia State Police.
The motorcycle struck a VDOT sign and tree before throwing off the driver. He died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. The single vehicle motorcycle crash occurred at approximately 11:40 p.m.
