Authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating a car and driver involved in a fatal Halloween night crash in Middlesex County.
The car is believed to have run over a woman that a deer knocked off a 2011 Honda Moped that was traveling westbound on Old Virginia Street (Route 602), according to Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya. The woman, Lorraine Labounty-Siecker, 72, of Crossville, Tenn., died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
Labounty-Siecker was a passenger on the Moped, which was being driven by her husband, Timothy Siecker, who suffered serious injuries and was transported to Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester. The crash occurred at approximately 7:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
After the couple was thrown from the Moped after being struck by the deer, an unknown vehicle, traveling eastbound, struck Labounty-Siecker, and continued traveling eastbound on Route 602 in the direction/area of Burrells Marina Road.
State police are reaching out to members of the community, seeking assistance in possibly identifying or obtaining information on the identification of the unknown dark colored sedan which left the scene of the crash, or who may have witnessed the crash or driver leaving the scene.
