The MHS football team ran into a tough Isle of Wight Academy defense Friday night as MHS lost to IWA, 29-0, in the non-district “Battle of the Chargers” — each school uses a Charger for its mascot.

Middlesex’s offense was paced by JaQuan Griffin and Cameron Lambert as J. Griffin caught two passes from Lambert for 19 yards. J. Griffin, Rowan Anderson and Marshall Motley rushed for nine yards apiece on the ground and Devonte Griffin had 32 yards on kick-off returns.

On defense, J. Griffin and Motley paced the defense as J. Griffin had two pass interceptions and Motley picked off a IWA pass. Anderson paced the Chargers defense with five solo tackles and five assists; and Nathan Powell had five tackles, two assists.

Middlesex will travel to King & Queen (K&Q) Courthouse this Friday, Oct. 27, to take on Tidewater District foe the K&Q Central Royal Tigers (2-6, 1-1) at K&Q Central High School…
