MHS WINS VOLLEYBALL DIST. CROWN

“Volley for a Cure” was the theme for breast cancer awareness match at Middlesex High School on Oct. 10. The Lady Chargers and many fans wore pink to show their support. Money was raised through T-shirt sales and a drawing to assist a local community member who is battling breast cancer. Will be top seed in Oct. 30 region tournament at MHS

Middlesex High School’s varsity volleyball team is champion of the Tidewater District, going undefeated in district play.

The Lady Chargers finished 18-2 overall and 11-0 in the district, will be top seed in the Region 1A tournament and will host the opening round on Monday, Oct. 30, at Middlesex High School. Game time is tentatively set for 6 p.m.

Regular season statistics are as follows:

  • Middle hitter Karlie Morris had 207 kills and 36 blocks.
  • Setting specialist Addison Heasley had 391 assists, 31 aces, 47 kills, and 104 digs.
  • Libero Libby Oliver had 170 digs, 59 aces and served at 95% for the season.
  • Hailey Bruce had 74 kills, 36 aces, and 131 digs.
  • Carly Jessie had 74 kills, 47 aces, and 87 digs.
  • Courtney Jessie had 63 kills, 33 aces, and 92 digs.
  • Dominae Ivery had 21 kills and 24 blocks.
