Church Briefs: October 26, 2023

“LIFE WITH JESUS IS FULL OF TREATS. LIFE WITHOUT JESUS IS TRICKY,” read placards at a previous Zoar Baptist Church Trunk or Treat event. This year the event is set for 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in the Zoar parking lot and features free hot dogs in addition to plenty of candy. (Contributed)

Exciting things are happening at Zoar Baptist Church in Deltaville. They have several studies in progress. One is for parents at night and another is a ladies Bible study during the day. “Fourteen Gospel Principles that Can Radically Change Your Family, Parenting” by Paul David Tripp is the book they are currently studying. They meet every Wednesday night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. They can also “Zoom you in” if you are unable to attend in person. The Ladies Bible Study meets at 11 a.m. every Wednesday in the fellowship hall and discusses Julie P. Fitchuk’s, “Revelations.” Call the office at 804-776-9502 if you are interested in either of these studies.

Every Wednesday night the Community Youth Group meets in the fellowship hall from 6-8 p.m.  They are served dinner, have game time and study verses in the Bible after watching a video. All sixth through 12th graders are welcome to join the group. They currently have 20-30 teens participating. This coming Wednesday they will have a pumpkin carving contest. If you and your teen are interested, call Cindi Adkins at 804-339-7274 for information.

This Sunday, Zoar Pastor John Snow will be back in the pulpit after a three-month sabbatical. He returned from his mission trip to Romania and working with Project Ruth. All are welcome to join one of their Sunday school classes at 9 a.m. and their worship service at 10:30 a.m. Children’s Church is offered during the worship service in the upper classrooms for K-5 grades. There is also a nursery available at that time. For information, call 804-776-9502.

Zoar is offering a hot dog supper at its annual Trunk or Treat. You are welcome to pick up a hot dog dinner-to-go after you visit trunks full of candy and fun challenges. Trunk or Treat will be in the parking lot outside of the church on the fellowship hall side of the church. Zoar is located in Deltaville on General Puller Highway (Route 33) next to the Deltaville Community Association building. All are welcome to come trick or treat on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 4-6 p.m.
