The Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) voted unanimously Monday, Oct. 9, to sell .564 acre of property off the St. Clare Walker Middle School property in Locust Hill to Hampton Roads Sanitation Department (HRSD).

The $4,300 proceeds from the sale of the property will go towards a visitor photo identification system for St. Clare Walker Middle School (SCW), said Superintendent Dr. Tracy Seitz.

HRSD is planning to build 30 miles of “interceptor main” that will pump wastewater to an existing line in Middlesex County and eventually to Yorktown for treatment.

The Locust Hill HRSD facility that will abut the middle school’s campus will receive sewage from Saluda and Urbanna for storage and pumping. The storage is designed to hold excess sewage for when there is more flow than the system can handle. The facility will have a 100,000 gallon storage capacity.
