MHS blanks Charles City Panthers, 27-0;
prepares for “Battle of the Chargers” Friday

On homecoming night Friday, the Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger football team (1-6, 1-1) got its first win of the season, 27-0, against the Charles City Panthers.

The game started off with fans roaring as speedster running back JaQuan Griffin took the opening kick-off back for a 70-yard touchdown. With just 15 seconds into the game, quarterback Cameron Lambert hit Jakub Bowen with a pass in the end zone for the 2-point conversion and the Chargers were up 8-0.

The Chargers scored in every quarter. With 6:30 on the clock in the third quarter, Lambert connected with Dandy for a 13-yard touchdown pass and the score was 20-0 as MHS missed the two-point conversion.

With the game in hand in the fourth quarter, Lambert hit J. Griffin with a 25-yard pass for the Chargers final touchdown. Wyatt St. Louis made good on the extra point kick to end the scoring and a 27-0 win.

The Chargers will travel to Isle of Wight Academy (0-5) this Friday, Oct. 20. It will be a “Battle of the Chargers,” as both schools feature a Charger  mascot. Kickoff is 7…

Christchurch football update

Christchurch’s gridiron Seahorses (5-0, 4-0) remain undefeated after out-jousting Quantico’s Knights 60-0 at Dischinger Field Saturday. It will be a Battle of the Undefeateds this Saturday, Oct. 21 when Christchurch travels to Lynchburg to try to ex-communicate the Fighting Bishops of Virginia Episcopal School (6-0, 6-0). Kickoff is 2 p.m.
