Christchurch athletes excel

Christchurch’s gridiron Seahorses (4-0, 3-0) remain undefeated after taming the 3-4 Rappahannock County Panthers 50-7 Friday in “Little Washington” in central Virginia. Christchurch will next try to out-joust Quantico’s Knights (0-6, 0-5) at Dischinger Field in Christchurch this Saturday, Oct. 14. Kickoff is 2 p.m.

The varsity soccer team beat Veritas School (Richmond) 4-0 last week. The Seahorses play away at Trinity Episcopal School (Richmond) this week and host Leonardtown High School (Leonardtown, Md.) this Saturday.

On Friday, Oct. 20, the team will host the Jason Soucek Classic Game in memory and honor of CCS graduate and Middlesex County resident Jason “Juice” Soucek ’92. Jason, son of Archie ’61 and Claudia Soucek of Saluda, died in 1996, while a student at Roanoke College. At Christchurch, Jason was a standout soccer, basketball and lacrosse player, earning Best All-Around Athlete honors in 1992.

The Seahorses will play Steward School of Richmond at 4:30 p.m. at Nunn Field, on the school’s lower campus.

Come on out to watch some great soccer action on beautiful Nunn Field, overlooking the Rappahannock River. The game is free and open to the public.
