Mac Davis

Mac Davis, 69, of White Stone, passed away peacefully on Sept. 12, 2023.

He was born on Sept. 25, 1953, to the late Naomi and Charles W. Davis.

Mac, also known as Richard Malcom Davis, was a beloved husband to Catherine Davis during their 40 years of marriage. He was a proud father to Carolyn Toman (Michael) and Pop-Pop to cherished grandsons Emmett and Charlie Toman. Mac is also survived by brother, Charles (Chuck) W. Davis Jr. (Diane); and sister, Julia Davis; as well as several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Mac had a passion for auto mechanics. After graduating high school, he taught the subject at Lancaster Vocational School from 1971 to 1973. In 1978, he founded Mac’s Auto World of Virginia where he worked as a master service technician for 45 years. His expertise and commitment to his craft were admired by all who knew him. Outside of work, Mac found joy in various hobbies and interests.

In 1997, he pursued his adventurous side when he discovered a love for skydiving, and the following year, he took on the challenge of flying, building, and selling powered parachutes through his company Bay Adventures Airsports.

In 2006, Mac served on the White Stone Town Council, where he worked to improve the community he lived in his entire life and held very dear.

Mac Davis will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. May his memory live on in our hearts and his gift of gab live on in our ears.

A memorial service will be conducted to celebrate Mac’s life on Sunday, Sept. 24, at 3 p.m. at White Stone United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org) in memory of Mac.
