Authorities probe death of Wake man, 91

Daniel

Robert Nicholas Daniel is behind bars facing multiple felony charges after deputies responded to a domestic violence call of a 91-year-old man, reported Major M.E. Sampson of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

According to Maj. Sampson, on Aug. 26 at 2:20 a.m., MCSO deputies received a call for a domestic problem in progress on Mill Creek Road in Wake.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered Daniel, 30, of Jamaica hovering over his maternal grandfather, Woodson Armstead Sr. The victim was bleeding from injuries sustained to his head and arms. The attack occurred at Armstead’s home.

Armstead was transported to a hospital for his injuries. He was released after a few days, but then was hospitalized again.

Armstead died on Sept. 10 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester. Armstead’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiners office for an autopsy. The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be made, said Maj. Sampson.
