The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger football team fell to Windsor, 34-23, Friday night in a non-conference game at Bristow-Boxley Field in the Syd Thrift Athletic Complex in Saluda.

Penalties and heat contributed to stretch out the game to three hours. MHS had 11 penalties, which resulted in 82 negative yards and negated two touchdowns and both teams’ athletic trainers were on the field numerous times to treat players for leg cramps.

Throughout the game, however, the Chargers showed some offensive flair.

JaQuan Griffin was cat-quick elusive throughout the game. With 3:27 left in the first half, Griffin found daylight in the Windsor defensive line and rambled for a 60 yard rushing touchdown. Lambert connected with Henry Fleet in the air for the 2-point conversion. The half ended 15-15.

In the fourth quarter, Fleetwood Turner scored for the Dukes with an acrobatic catch in the end zone. The extra point kick was no good. Windsor was up 27-15. Collins scored again from the one-yard line and the extra point was good to up the score 34-15.

The Chargers (0-2, 0-0) will take on the Lancaster Red Devils (1-1, 0-0) Friday in Saluda…
