The Middlesex High School varsity volleyball team is off to a 2-1 start after defeating Northumberland and Lancaster, but losing to Rappahannock.
The Lady Chargers opened the season on Aug. 22 at powerful Rappahannock, which won all but the third set, 25-13, 25-11 and 25-16. The Lady Chargers took game three 25-23. Middlesex Coach Brian Walton speculated that “first game jitters and an away game,” worked against his team.
Tonight, Thursday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m., the varsity only hosts Carver Academy.
The JV and varsity teams are at Lancaster on Tuesday, Sept. 12; host King and Queen Central on Wednesday, Sept. 13; and are at Mathews on Thursday, Sept. 14. Game time is 5:30 p.m. for the JV and 7 p.m. for the varsity.
