MHS football home opener set for Friday vs. Windsor

The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger football team lost the opening game of the 2023 season to the Northumberland Indians, 63-13, in a non-conference game Friday night in Heathsville.

The Chargers were paced on offense by MHS quarterback Cameron Lambert who scored on a two-yard quarterback sneak and wide receiver JaQuan Griffin caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Lambert. Wyatt St. Louis was good on one extra point kick.

Rowan Anderson was the top MHS rusher with 72 yards on 15 carries and Lambert rushed for 22 yards on four carries from the quarterback position. Kevin Turner had five yards on five carries.

Middlesex’s Chargers will host the Windsor Dukes on Bristow-Boxley Field at Syd Thrift Athletic Complex in Saluda Friday. Kick-off is 7 p.m. Windsor fell to Arcadia 53-36 in its Aug. 25 opener and defeated King & Queen Central 41-14 on Aug. 31.
