Labor Day weekend’s coming up and it’s time for our annual “Bonus Groovin’ in the Park” on the waterfront stage at Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM). The concert is set for 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2. This is our annual visit as locally connected Josh Walker and his trio become a quartet with songstress Carla Jackson bringing their smooth as silk renditions of our favorite old standards and popular jazz tunes, including “Fly Me to the Moon” and “Georgia on My Mind.” Middlesex County hornman Toby Gillie opens at 5 p.m. with his Unpredictables band and gates open at 4 p.m.
All Groovin’ 2023 tickets will be honored at this event. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate.
Josh Walker is an internationally known musician with strong Middlesex ties, performing on the waterfront stage at this special bonus Groovin’ in the Park. Josh Walker has performed internationally as far away as Japan. This is a bring your own lawn chair and cooler concert.
Walker is a multiple-award jazz guitarist who has played at both the Montreal and Toronto jazz festivals. He composes, plays in multiple groups and he is a professor of jazz guitar at Shepherd University in West Virginia. Walker will have his original CD, “Inertia,” available at the concert.
