Seven players return to the varsity volleyball team of Middlesex High School this season. Four of them were selected for post season honors last season when the Lady Chargers finished first in the Tidewater District, second in Region 1A, and made it to the State tournament.

“I think we are in great shape to start our season,” said MHS Head Volleyball Coach Brian Walton, who is back for his seventh season as the Lady Chargers’ head coach. “We have seven returning players that are poised to take the floor, and five new girls that have a lot of potential as well!”

New players

The varsity Lady Chargers have five new girls who played on the junior varsity team last year. They include Pollie Hammond, Karadee Anderson, Kaitlyn Hargrove, McKenzie Clarke and Kallie Robins. “I am very excited to get these girls on the team and get them ready to make an impact for us right out of the gate!”

On Aug. 17 the Lady Chargers dominated Essex in a scrimmage at MHS.

The Lady Chargers opened the regular season at Rappahannock on Aug. 22. They will be at Northumberland on Aug. 29. Their first home match is Thursday, Aug. 31. Game times are generally 5:30 p.m. for JV and the varsity follows around 7 p.m.
