Four adult groups meet to study the Bible book, Jeremiah, at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays through Zoar Baptist Church in Deltaville. Two adult groups meet on the shores of the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay (bring your lawn chair) on Speck Avenue near Stingray Point. Two groups meet at Zoar Baptist Church, 17097 General Puller Highway, Deltaville.

Give Jeremiah a try and meet some new friends. “So will My Word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me void (useless, without result), Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. God’s word does not return void” (Isaiah 55:11 Amplified Version).

“We’re going down to the river, down to the river, down to the river to pray,” said a Zoar Baptist Church rep paraphrasing part of a song created by David Silverberg, Jordan Feliz and Colby Wedgeworth. Zoar Baptist Church began its annual 8 a.m. “beach” worship last month and it will continue through Sept. 3. All in all, there will be more than a dozen opportunities to worship near where the Rappahannock River meets the Chesapeake Bay at Stingray Point.

“Come experience a slice of heaven when the rays of the sun gently break through the pines under a clear blue sky, with white billowy clouds,” reads a Zoar news release. “You may even get to see dolphins breaking the surface of the water or sailboat mainsails catching the wind.”

You are invited to join Zoar Baptist Church congregants at their “beach” worship. Take General Puller Highway (Route 33) east through Deltaville toward Stingray Point and turn onto Speck Avenue where the special outdoor worship area is located. You can tune your FM car radio to 100.7 or, perhaps a better choice, bring your lawn chair and sit under the pines. “Come on down to the river to pray,” a Zoar rep said. “See you there!”
