Rowland Adamson, 79, born in Wytheville to Robert Weatherly Adamson and Adelaide White, peacefully passed away at his home in Church View on Friday, July 21, 2023.
Formerly of Loudoun County, Rowland embraced the role of a gentleman farmer at Britten Hill Farm in Hamilton, a place he and his family lovingly called home for many years. Throughout the years, Rowland’s passion for farming extended to tending to his horses and other animals with passion and dedication. There was nothing he loved more than a beautiful evening rocking on the porch with Hunny, Threepence or Cruiser, while enjoying a glass of wine.
Rowland graduated from Strayer College and worked as an accountant/comptroller in the automotive industry. He worked at HBL and Leesburg Chrysler Dodge for many years.
Rowland is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frankie Adamson of Church View; a daughter, Allyson Adamson of Hamilton; and a son, Rowland Reid Adamson Jr. of Richmond.
A graveside service to celebrate and honor Rowland’s life is planned for 2 p.m. Friday, July 28 at the Goose Creek Friends Cemetery in Lincoln. The family welcomes all who wish to pay their respects and join in commemorating the life of a remarkable man.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity close to Rowland’s heart — Briggs Animal Adoption Center, P.O. Box 1023, Charlestown, WV 25414. This cause was reflective of his passion for animals and his desire to support the well-being of these beloved companions.
Rowland Adamson’s legacy as a devoted family man, accomplished professional, and steward of the land will forever remain in our hearts, inspiring us to cherish the beauty of the world around us and to create cherished memories with those we love.
