Progress is being made on bringing a Tractor Supply business to Saluda reported Middlesex County Planning Director Dave Kretz at the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (MCBS) regular monthly meeting on July 11.
On July 12, 2022, MCBS approved the rezoning of approximately 15 acres in Saluda to General Business and 2.3 acres to Village Community clearing the way for a business such as Tractor Supply to locate. The location has 1,200-feet on U.S. 17 and is located across Route 17 Business from the Dollar General store and Massey Urbanna Builders Supply Corp. in Saluda.
The Middlesex Economic Development Authority had been in talks with Tractor Supply about locating on less than five acres where the former Rappahannock Central Elementary School was located at Cooks Corner, but that deal fell through. Some members of the board did not want the business on that site as it has historical significance to Middlesex County’s African-American population.
